DELAMERE
Progress.
Delamere is a project in Adelaide, a residential home built in 1969. Over the years it had been subject to additions and minor repairs, but it had not been thoroughly renovated in three decades and had deteriorated in that time.
It required a new roof, plumbing, paving, fencing, flooring, soft furnishings, paint, electrical work and lighting. Having lost many of the unique featues that reflected its 1960s origins, the new occupants asked that the interior reincorporate some of the mid-century details that still remained a part of the exterior.
We worked with much of the existing design, including the original trims added post 1960, and the clients’ love of Art Deco lighting. Floors were stripped back and stained in deep browns, the parquetry was revived, and butter-yellow and burnt-orange curtains added warmth to the space.
